Lyon campsite

 

Overnight stay in Lyon for a rest, campsite had nice amenities, only shopped here and drove to Aix-en-Provence the next day.  Huge supermarket, with all types of food, just amazing and cheap.
So much cheap alcohol, spirits are the same price or lower than duty free.  Saw 4 litres of Whisky for 49 euros!

Nitri - France

We camped overnight in the lovely town of Nitri,  never heard of it just pulled over and picked a spot beside a field and farm, to sleep overnight on the way to Lyon from Paris.
It was beautiful with a tiny population and very old buildings.  This was in the Bourgogne region and we tasted a few good Bordeaux's tonight.  Wine is so cheap, from 2 euros a bottle.  Tomorrow we are off to Lyon.

Paris....what can I say except 'cest magnifique' loved every minute from the time we came up the escalator and right in front of us was the Arc de Triomphe. David & I climbed the 289 stairs to the top where we could see all over Paris. Had coffee & dinner on the Champs Eleysee quite a few times just enjoying the atmosphere.
The Moulin Rouge had us lost for words & we were very lucky to have a table for 3 with uninterrupted views.
Montmatre was everything & more than I expected & just loved the atmosphere. In France as weird as it sounds I was at home & loved speaking my limited French when I could. Definitely coming back one day & just spending 5 to 6 weeks in France !!!!! As one lady said on the bus tour Paris is like a museum & how true she was, it is hard to comprehend just how old & the history behind this beautiful city.

Bruge - Belgium

Crossed the channel and drove though three countries in one day to Bruge.  The park here is great with two restaurants and lake to swim or ski in.  Didn't have a chance to get into Bruge town yet, will do so on the way back.  Had some great food and fantastic Belgium beers tonight with dinner.  It's a bit of a challenge driving a right hand drive vehicle on the right side of the road!
Especially at the round abouts or "rotaries" as they call them here.  Diesel over here is about 1.59 euros a litre and we are getting 25 mpg.  Annette and Freda are having a great time.  Tomorrow off to Paris!

Hastings - UK

Stayed in Hastings one night, situated near Dover, before our trip to France on the Euro tunnel.  Absolutely  beautiful park with lots of wildlife and ever so quite.  Will be back here for a few days on the way back.  So tired after the 11 hour drive from Edinburgh to Hastings.
The sat nav took us though every back lane one car wide in Hastings!  Very stressful with a vehicle nearly 8 feet wide and 3.5 tonne.

Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

 Our time in Edinburgh has been fantastic, our trip to Edinburgh Castle was amazing to think we
walked where previous kings & queens have been. Then to have brunch on the Royal Yacht and seeing
where Prince Charles & Diana spent there honeymoon. The Yacht was very homely and one can see why the Queen loved it so much. The weather has been extremely windy & cold due to the left overs of a hurricane from America. Love Scotland and  would like to come back for a longer time - Annette.

Toured around London seeing all the sites on a double decker bus of course.  Taking in the wonders of London and the history.  Very congested traffic but brilliant place. Public transport is fantatastic.
The girls went shopping yesterday and purchased some  jackets and perfume.  The prices on clothing and perfume are cheaper than Australia.
Heading off to new site tomorrow in York
